my dog knows all the basic tricks. come, sit, lay, and heel. also stay. but when we go for a walk and see’s a dog he won’t listen. there is two dogs next door and he gets along great. but he ust won’t greet other dogs. he is about 1 yr ( i think) or less. i tried muzzles’ head haulters, and choke chains. i can’t figure it out. please reply back.

@demondogbuddy1 Check out a book called “Click to Calm” by Karen Pyror. And contact a trained behaviourist in the area where you live. Correcting a dog (yelling at them, using choke chains ect) that is being aggressive towards another dog is really never a good idea Unless you are incredibly well trained. Because what happens is the dog can associate that correction with the other dog. “What happens when I see another dog? I get yelled at and corrected! See I told you they are bad!!”

I think the best way to train away aggression is gradually. This is showing the dog, ‘I see another dog, I get the muzzle. I dont like the muzzle. Seeing other dogs is bad.’ Similar to what ninjakitty said. You need to gradually introduce other dogs. Start with one dog at a time (or whatever the aggression is directed at) and keep your dog busy. Fun toys, favorite treats. If the dog becomes aggressive, walk him away. Don’t correct with harsh words, only praise him for good behavior.

I guess any bozo can claim to be a dog behavior “expert”. Also – you might want to consider cleaning up your yard, which looks like a dump. It’s disgusting and damages your credibility. I wouldn’t let my dog near either of you.

he looks so uneducated.

@ThePreciousFan You NEVER reward aggressive behavior with toys or treats. Aggression is a pack behavior, its natural for a dog. All dogs are capable of aggression but most trained dogs wont show it. All aggression needs to be corrected. The pack leader (owner or handler of the dog) must correct the dogs aggression as a dog pack leader would in the wild. You cure a dogs aggression by punishing the dog for its behavior. The correction should be such that the dog does not want to get aggressive.

sorry but the shepherd has been abused by you..he is fearful of your touch..You are the agressor…the dogs tail is down ..showing his fear of you, the trainor..maybe you should learn how to train with positive reinforcement.. I AM NOT IMPRESSED
